Announcing the Final OneFPA Network Plan: The Culmination of a Multi-Year Journey
FPA’s Primary Aim is to elevate the profession that transforms lives through the power of financial planning. It’s a bold statement about our purpose and what we aspire to be for our members and the profession. But we must take the necessary steps to elevate our association in order to fully live into this lofty purpose. We can only elevate the profession and serve our members if FPA is working together in unison.
This is why we put forth the OneFPA Network vision and plan.
Since the OneFPA Network vision and draft plan was formally introduced in November 2018, we engaged key stakeholders by conducting a four-month nationwide Listening Tour, introduced a Second Iteration of the OneFPA Network Draft Plan based on input received, solicited additional comments through a 45-day comment period for the Second Iteration Plan and initiated a 30-day comment period for the Draft Beta-Test Application Package. Through this process―and through the 77 meetings with chapter boards and more than a dozen virtual sessions with different stakeholder groups and individual input―we believe we have received the needed feedback to take the next step in the OneFPA Network journey.
Today, the FPA Board of Directors is excited to announce its approved Final OneFPA Network Plan, which represents the culmination of a multi-year journey to create a shared vision for the future of the association that ensures FPA’s viability, strength, impact and relevance.
Thank you to everyone who engaged in the process and provided feedback. Your input has helped us adopt a Final Plan that is responsive, collaborative and visionary. The Final OneFPA Network Plan is largely consistent with the Second Iteration of the plan, but with additional clarifications and details based on the continued feedback received from stakeholders. The Final Plan continues to embrace two original OneFPA Network pillars: participatory governance and centralized functionality.
We invite you to learn more about the Final Plan and what comes next, including a major focus on revamping the technology that powers the association at all levels to deliver a more consistent, engaging member experience, by reviewing the resources below. As always, if you have feedback, ideas or questions, please let us know by emailing us at .
OneFPA Beta-Test Chapter Application Process is Now Open!
The OneFPA Network plan is a complete reorganization of the entire FPA enterprise that allows all key functional areas to work more closely together. To support closer collaboration with FPA’s network of nationwide chapters, FPA will implement a two-year beta-test of the centralized functionality provisions (technology, accounting/ finance, and staffing) with 10 FPA chapters — beginning in January 2020 — to adequately assess what might be implemented across the entire chapter system. We believe that a test-and-learn approach – with an ample timeframe – positions the OneFPA Network well for long-term, sustainable success.
Here’s a look at the timeline:
July 11-September 15: The beta-test application process is open to all FPA chapters.
October 15: The OneFPA Transition Task Force selects the beta-test chapters.
October 15, 2019 - December 31, 2019: We will work with the beta-test chapters to identify logistics in advance of the beta-test beginning January 2020. Volunteer chapters will be full partners in designing and executing the beta-test process.
